"I will make every FedEx experience outstanding." - The FedEx Purple Promise
Life at FedEx | FedEx Careers (25)

Our team members are deep-down dedicated to our Purple Promise—to make every FedEx experience outstanding. They prove it by going the extra mile (sometimes literally!), engaging with each other to find creative, innovative ways to solve customer problems. And displaying a work ethic that just won't quit.  Here are some examples of team members we are proud to recognize for going above and beyond.

A prescription for efficiency

Kyle Cornish, a supply and logistics analyst, found a problem, diagnosed it, and gave it a shot in the arm. It started when Kyle realized that customers weren’t notified of package delays until after a late scan. When that situation involves perishable items like flu vaccines, the package contents could spoil by the time they arrive to their destination.

Kyle proactively created a process to help make sure that critically needed vaccines arrived on time using a spreadsheet that included information about each shipment. Every day, he reviewed the spreadsheet, looked for flight or other delay causes, and, when necessary, contacted the shipper to see if the packages could be delivered or re-routed to a nearby cold storage facility. Thanks to Kyle, two shipments that would not have made it to their destination on time did – and saved $1.2 million worth of vaccines from being spoiled.

To catch a thief

Keegan Russell a FedEx Office store manager interacts with all kinds of customers every day. When one customer walked into his location in Sparks, Nevada, something about their shipping request didn’t sound right. The customer told Keegan they needed to ship a large amount of money. As Keegan talked to the customer, he noticed several warning signs that this could be a “grandparent scam,” a situation when a scammer pretending to be a potential victim’s grandchild asks for money.

Keegan reached out to corporate security and, together, they determined the customer was indeed being taken advantage of. Thanks to Keegan’s vigilance, the customer’s assets were kept safe.

Stepping up without missing a beat

When a child is waiting for a heart transplant, every second counts. In some cases, doctors need a special pump that helps keep a patient’s blood flowing until the surgery. Earlier this year, a family in Montreal had a baby in need of one of these pumps. When it didn’t arrive on time, Trevor Rendell, a quality and process improvement advisor for Canadian service and quality, sprang into action.

He found out the pump was at the Indianapolis Hub, called the location, and explained the critical need. The FedEx Global Operations Control Center arranged for a special flight and the pump arrived at the Montreal ramp the same day. Trevor worked with Global Trade Services to make sure the device cleared customs, and then delivered the package to the hospital himself.
