How many medals does Team USA have at the Paris Olympics? See the count (2024)

The Paris Olympics are fully underway and multiple members of Team USA have already earned many gold, silver and bronze medals.

As of the morning of Aug. 1, the United States is leading the medal count with 31 medals, followed by host country France with 26 and China with 21.

Swimming great Katie Ledecky earned her 12th Olympic medal on July 31 in the 1500m freestyle race, tying with swimmers Natalie Coughlin, Jenny Thompson and Dara Torres as the most decorated American female Olympian in any sport.

Below is quick glance at where the medal counts stand as of 7:30 a.m. ET on Aug. 1.

On July 30, Simone Biles became the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history after she and U.S. teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera won gold in the women’s gymnastics team final event. Biles now has eight medals across three Olympic Games.

Biles, Ledecky and all the other Olympians who have received medals in the past few days get to bask in their moment of glory on top of the podium.

On July 29, the men’s gymnastics team also had a historic day after earning its first team medal at an Olympic Games since 2008.

Brody Malone, Frederick Richard, Paul Juda, Asher Hong and Stephen Nedoroscik cheered each other on as they showed off their skills on the floor, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. The men’s gymnastics team ended the day with a bronze model while Japan took home gold and China was awarded the silver medal.

This year, the athletes are receiving custom medals, which were designed by French jewelry house Chaumet, that have an 18-gram hexagonal chunk of iron from the Eiffel Tower embedded in each of them. Each medalist is also receiving a gold box that includes the official poster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
